The Commonwell Mutual Insurance Group actually became The Commonwell on January 1, 2014 following an amalgamation between three legacy mutual insurance companies. So in reality, we’ve been busy insuring and protecting a way of life that is common to us all for well over 100 years.
WHILE WE STARTED IN RURAL FARM COUNTRY, COMMONWELL COUNTRY HAS EXPANDED OVER THE YEARS TO INCLUDE MUCH OF ONTARIO AND FOCUS ON WHAT WE REFER TO AS SMALLER PLACES AND WIDE OPEN SPACES.
We celebrate a certain lifestyle here which has room for individuality yet comes with a community spirit that brings us together whenever it matters. We lean over back fences to talk to neighbours more frequently. Our kids free range more often. Our business owners are the backbones of our communities and our agri-neighbours keep us grounded in reality. It’s an amazing mix of characters and we couldn’t imagine living and working anywhere else.
We believe in the common good, in shared optimism and in on-going support. That’s the essence of the name Commonwell. Our policies cover the assets you value most: homes, businesses, farms and equipment, seasonal properties, vehicles and yes, even boats, because much of Commonwell country comes with lots of fresh water close by.
We are a mutual insurance company. Our policy-holders are members and have a say in shaping the company. It also means we believe in the win/win scenario: The Commonwell invests a share of profits back into the communities we call home and where you live.
Finally, and what differentiates us more than anything is our commitment to the personal relationships that make insurance a better fit and easier to understand. So while using technology to make your insurance process easier is always front and centre, being there when you need us is what will always make the most difference.
