Target Completion Date: January 31, 2026

What is this project about?

In 2021, the Whitestone Public Library was a grateful recipient of the Commonwell L.E.A.F. Initiative Grant. This allowed us to grow our Technology Centre and offer our local residents public access computers, high-speed Internet, and a variety of technology equipment. However, we currently lack the resources to provide regular education programming to make the most of the Technology Center and provide the municipality’s residents with formal opportunities for group learning and collaboration.

With this grant we aim to develop and deliver educational programming offered through the Technology Centre covering a wide range of topics, including STEAM programming for children and youth, repair cafes, and training and access to equipment for local makers and entrepreneurs. We will partner with other local organizations to offer programs on specialist topics that are not currently available in our community, and expand our Technology Centre with new equipment and materials. The project would aim to increase technological literacy, help local residents develop practical and marketable skills, and support creativity and innovation in the Municipality of Whitestone.
