L.E.A.F. Grant Recipients

The Commonwell invests a portion of annual earnings before taxes in Commonwell communities through a range of core programs and volunteer activities.

TWO CORE PROGRAMS

The Commonwell invests in community resiliency through two programs that are focused on learning, engagement and capacity building.

“Sharing can never start too early: Another wonderful outcome of the SEEDit program was the grand children learning how food grew and sending them out to pick fresh tomatoes, cucumbers and herbs for meals and running a basket over to the neighbours to share. With The Commonwell’s help, I’m able to do more for my community and my family. Thank you for the community impact that this program will continue to have.

– Regena Scott | The Commonwell

“Donna and Brian, the co-founders of Westben, learned that the schoolhouse across the road from the main venue was for sale. It needed a little work – The Commonwell L.E.A.F. grant made that part possible. As a local business owner, I’ve been a Westben patron since day one. The Commonwell helped us renew dreams and come together again as a community. Nature, involvement, passion, culture: It brings back wonder. That’s what a L.E.A.F. Grant can do.”

– Johanna Allen | President | Allen Insurance Group

“It feels good to be able to share fresh veggies with neighbours. Especially so given the soaring costs of food.”

– Lindy Mechefske | SEEDit Participant

“Kids Feeding Kids is for youth, grade seven ’til the end of high school. Almost everyone who joins in knows the impact of socio- economic challenges. They learn how to buy food, prepare ingredients, chop it and cook it, all under the guidance of our full- time chef. And thanks to local hospitality business owners, we’re connecting our youth to employment, part-time and full-time. We now have a chef full-time and the right equipment for training, thanks to The Commonwell L.E.A.F. grant”
